Helping us to understand your budget, and why it matters

Planning a safari is exciting - but it works best when one key detail is clear from the start: your budget.

At African Private Guides Network, every safari is tailor-made. That means we don’t pull pre-set packages off a shelf - we design your trip from scratch, and bring in the best guides from the region to show you around their home. And the budget plays a central role in shaping what’s possible.

Why your budget matters early

When we first are in touch with a prospective guest, we ask them to fill in a form on our itinerary planning platform, SafariPortal. This form help us to collate all the information to make your trip great. One of the most important questions on the form is about the budget - and often prospective guests either leave it blank, or don’t know what to write.

Why that can be a problem

1. Safaris have many moving parts
A safari isn’t a single booking. It includes guides, accommodation, internal flights, park fees, vehicles and logistics across remote areas. Each decision affects the overall cost. Without a budget, it’s difficult to build a realistic plan.

2. It avoids wasted time
Creating an itinerary takes real work - checking availability, matching the right guide, and building a seamless route. If the budget is off, that work often has to be redone from scratch.

3. “Expensive” is relative
What feels like a high budget to one person may be standard to another. Safaris are generally costly due to conservation fees, remote locations, and expert guiding - but there’s still a wide range within that. Sharing your budget helps us understand your expectations.

4. It leads to better recommendations
With a clear budget, we can prioritise what matters most to you - whether that’s a top private guide, exceptional camps or a balanced mix of both. Without it, we’re guessing.

The bottom line

A clear budget doesn’t limit your safari - it makes it better. It helps us design something that fits your expectations, avoids unnecessary revisions and ensures your trip is both achievable and exceptional.

Tell us your budget early, and we’ll use it to build the right safari for you.
