Steve Nyiti

Born and raised on a small farm beneath the foothills of Mount Meru, Steven grew up immersed in the landscapes that continue to shape his life today. His childhood was spent exploring forest trails, listening to elders’ stories about the land, and learning the natural rhythms of Tanzania’s wild spaces. The mountains, forests, and the wildlife that still roamed his home region nurtured a deep respect for nature and a curiosity that would ultimately guide his career.

With more than 12 years of experience in Tanzania’s hospitality and safari industry, Steve has worked with some of the world’s leading travel companies. He began his career as a Naturalist in the Serengeti before progressing to Field Guide, Private Guide - crafting bespoke journeys for travelers across Tanzania and, more recently, the wider East African region. His extensive training in guiding, hospitality, and conservation forms the foundation of the immersive, story-driven experiences he is known for.

Steve is passionate about interpretive guiding, using storytelling to reveal the hidden narratives behind every landscape and wildlife encounter. He believes that each behavior in the natural world carries meaning, and he brings these insights to life in a calm, engaging manner that helps guests connect deeply with their surroundings. As an avid wildlife photographer, he also enjoys positioning guests for exceptional photographic opportunities and is always learning new techniques himself.

His guiding experience spans private safaris throughout Tanzania, including walking safaris in the Serengeti, Tarangire and the Ngorongoro Highlands. He has also summited Mount Kilimanjaro with guests and frequently supports travelers venturing into Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda.

A committed conservation educator, Steven works with aspiring guides and school groups, sharing his knowledge to help shape the next generation - just as nature shaped him. His philosophy is grounded in the belief that knowledge inspires protection. Through sustainable tourism, he aims to connect people with the natural world in ways that are transformative, respectful, and meaningful.

For Steve, guiding is more than a profession - it is a calling. His mission is to educate, inspire, and protect, creating experiences that foster a deeper understanding of East Africa’s ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.
