Nigisti Solomon

Nigisti Solomon is an accomplished professional guide and cultural ambassador, dedicated to revealing the depth, beauty, and diversity of Ethiopia and the wider African continent. She brings together academic training and hands-on experience, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from Addis Ababa University, alongside a Diploma in Tour Operations from the Catering & Tourism Training Institute.

Born during the Ethiopian Orthodox Christmas, Nigisti was given a name meaning “Queen,” reflecting both tradition and identity. Raised in northern Ethiopia - amid the rock-hewn churches, ancient Kingdom of Axum, and some of Africa’s most significant archaeological landscapes - she developed an early and enduring connection to Ethiopia’s cultural heritage, history, and natural wonders.

Nigisti designs and leads journeys that span Ethiopia’s extraordinary range of experiences: from national parks rich in biodiversity and highland mountain hikes to immersive cultural encounters and expeditions into the dramatic Danakil Depression, one of the lowest and most geologically striking places on Earth. She works with individuals and private groups, including families, photographers, and educational travelers, tailoring each journey with care and insight.

Her guiding style is grounded in storytelling, cultural fluency, and a deep respect for place. Whether exploring the Great Rift Valley - often called the cradle of humankind - or navigating Ethiopia’s lesser-known regions, Nigisti creates experiences that go beyond sightseeing to foster meaningful connections between people and landscapes.

A proud member of Rotary International, Nigisti is committed to community service, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, and education. She believes travel has the power to connect cultures, amplify local voices, and leave a positive, lasting impact - values that align closely with the mission of the African Private Guides Network.
