Eric Kamoga
Born and raised in Kampala, Eric is an enthusiastic Ugandan safari guide dedicated to creating unforgettable travel experiences. His work blends wildlife interpretation, cultural heritage, birding expertise, and the art of storytelling. With a deep understanding of Uganda’s diverse landscapes - ranging from golden savannahs to lush tropical forests - he weaves history, culture, and ecology into engaging narratives that captivate guests and bring each safari to life.
Eric’s path to guiding began in an unexpected field: electrical engineering. Trained in low- and high-voltage installation and circuit design, he built strong technical and problem-solving skills. While working on a research project in Kampala investigating marabou storks and electrical line accidents, he discovered how his technical background could intersect with conservation. That project became a turning point, sparking a love for birding and inspiring him to leave the desk behind for the dynamic, hands-on world of safari guiding.
In 2016, Eric launched his guiding career, grounded in research and field observation. That same year, he joined the Uganda Safari Guides Association (USAGA), committing to the highest industry standards, and later trained in animal behaviour while deepening his knowledge of Uganda’s cultures and their relationships with wildlife. Over the years, he has specialised in birdwatching, wildlife photography, and interpreting the cultural narratives that shape people’s connections to nature. When the Uganda Tourism Board introduced mandatory licensing in 2022, Eric secured his guide’s license, further affirming his professionalism and dedication to excellence.
He holds a certificate in Ornithology, Bird Habitat Conservation, and Business in Ornithology, complementing his engineering qualifications with a unique ability to interpret both the ecological and cultural dimensions of Uganda’s biodiversity. For Eric, each safari is more than a journey through stunning landscapes - it’s an opportunity to connect, share stories, and inspire guests to see the natural world with fresh eyes. Whether leading a sunrise game drive, guiding a focused birding walk, photographing wildlife in golden light, or explaining the symbolism of animals in Ugandan traditions, Eric ensures every guest leaves with a richer understanding of this remarkable country.
