Carl Nicholson
Born and raised in Zimbabwe’s breathtaking Kariba wilderness, Carl has been immersed in the world of wildlife from a young age. His deep connection to nature was nurtured by family and friends, shaping a lifelong devotion to conservation. Whether fishing or game viewing on his family farm or exploring the legendary Mana Pools National Park, Carl’s passion for the wild has been an integral part of his journey.
After completing his education, Carl wasted no time in pursuing his dream. He began as an apprentice guide, working tirelessly to earn his place among Zimbabwe’s elite professional guides—becoming one of the youngest fully licensed guides in the country. His expertise extends beyond guiding, as he holds a Class A Dangerous Drugs License, allowing him to safely dart, immobilize, and relocate problem animals. His primary focus lies in mitigating human-wildlife conflict, particularly in remote and underprivileged areas, where conservation efforts are most critical.
Since 2016, Carl has been professionally guiding in Zimbabwe, expanding his expertise to East Africa and Zambia in 2019. When he’s not leading safaris, he manages his family’s fish farm in Northern Zimbabwe, balancing his time between conservation, bird-watching, fishing, and living an active, nature-filled lifestyle.
